On that note, if you haven’t met or trained with Delicia yet, you are missing out!
To help fill that void, here are some fun facts about Delicia that you probably didn’t know (& next time you see her in the noon class feel free to ask her for more details!).
Born and raised in Toronto. I work in e-commerce, remotely, so I spend a lot of time sitting at home staring at my phone and laptop screens. CrossFit noon classes have definitely been a nice and needed break from all that. I don’t have much of a consistent fitness background before CrossFit. I did the stairmaster a lot while watching the food network.
What is one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?
I think that doing CrossFit is the most surprising! I would have never pictured myself doing CrossFit… and actually enjoying it.
Why did you start CrossFit?
I started going to a regular gym more often after graduating and having more free time and my cousin kept telling me to try out the free Sunday class at 6S. After a lot of pushing, I hesitantly agreed thinking that I had nothing to lose if I hated it. The intro class left me incredibly sore and I couldn’t stop complaining about wall balls, but I figured I would test it out for a month and see. A month commitment turned into 6 months and then here we are now.
What is your proudest CF moment?
I was pretty proud of myself when I finally didn’t have to google all the movements every day before class. Also, whenever I PR anything.
More confidence in and out of the gym. Definitely feel stronger and more capable than I ever have. Walking up a long flight of stairs is a little less horrible now. And I don’t hate running as much as I used to!
Other than CrossFit, what do you do for fun?
I love eating and trying out new restaurants. Especially BBQ. I watch a lot of horror movies and crime shows. I also enjoy cross-stitching and have been (slowly) trying to teach myself Python.
What book are you reading right now?
The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K Le Guin
You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be and why?
Red – because it’s lucky!
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?
Every time I accidentally whip myself with a band or botch a movement I internally laugh at myself and wonder if anyone noticed.
Choose a movie title for the story of your life.
Cheesy answer: It’s A Wonderful Life
What’s the strangest talent you have?
Not so strange, but I’m really good at giving personalized gifts.
What are three things still left on your bucket list?
My travel themed bucket list is going back to Japan and exploring more of the countryside, checking out the distilleries in Scotland, and to eat my way through Vietnam.
If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?
Telekinesis
