Athlete of the Month: Nadia Pasqua

Nadia has been working with Coach Sim and she has seen how Nadia’s efforts are paying off!

“Over the last six months, Nadia has been putting. in. the. work! She is the definition of consistency, training 3 times per week since November 2022 while crushing it at her career & knowing how to have fun in-between. Recently Nadia has dialled in her nutrition while working with Alysha, & has been so consistent at fueling well outside of the gym so that she can be ready for anything while she’s on-site designing cool spaces or learning how to wall walk inside of the gym. I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing Nadia’s journey back to movement, discovering her strength, developing her endurance & finding her fierce! We want to recognize how hard you’ve been working & celebrate all the progress you’ve made (especially on that echo bike) 🙂 ! Can’t wait to see where your fitness jounrey & confidence in yourself takes you next, Nads!”

Tell us about yourself.

I was born in Toronto but raised in a small city in southern Italy called Cosenza. I moved back to Toronto when I was 17 years old to pursue my studies in architecture and psychology. I’ve always been fascinated by the two subjects and their intertwining relationship. I believe that the way we shape the built environment inherently shapes us. So, I chose a career in architecture with a strong desire to help create spaces that can inspire positive social and environmental relationships.

What is one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?

I’m a big soccer fan. Growing up, I used to spend most of my afternoons playing and on Sundays my dad would always have the Serie A matches on tv all day. I love TFC and you can find me in the supporter section at any home game.

How long have you been doing Personal Training and Nutrition? At 6S?

I’ve been doing personal training and nutrition for about 5 months now.

Why did you start Personal training?

After moving back to Toronto, I focused so much on my studies and career that I let fitness and nutrition take a back seat in my day to day. Coming out of the pandemic, working from home and living such a sedentary life for over two years, left me feeling so weak and out of shape. I knew I needed to make a change; it was about time that I prioritized health, fitness, and nutrition. So, I started personal training with the goal to integrate fitness in my life on a consistent basis, get stronger, increase my endurance, and shave off some of the weight that I had gained during the pandemic. I knew personal training would give me the sense of accountability that I was struggling with but that I needed to successfully integrate fitness in my life on a consistent basis.

What is your proudest 6S training moment?

Completing my first 24” box jump. I couldn’t even believe it when it happened. When I first started at 6S, I would see others training and doing box jumps and I would think to myself: “One day… one day….”

What impact has 6S had on your life inside and outside the gym?

Ever since joining 6S, I feel the healthiest, strongest, and most energetic I’ve ever felt in my adult life.

For someone just starting Personal Training, what advice would you give them?

Trust the process. Be open and honest about how you’re feeling and remember to have fun with it.

What’s your biggest health and fitness goal right now? How close are you?

Besides generally continuing to work on my overall strength, endurance, and weight loss, I cannot wait for the day that I can complete proper pull ups, handstand wall walks, and 80-pound sandbag over the shoulder throw. Pull ups….right now I can do some using a resistance band. Wall walks…I’m getting there. 80-pound sandbag over the shoulder throw….right now I’m working with the 55 pounder.

Other than 6S, what do you do for fun?

I love hanging out with friends and family, going to concerts, TFC games with my sister and going back home to Italy any chance I get.

What was the best advice you were ever given?

A quote by William Arthur Ward: “If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it.”

Who inspires you?

My family. Even if we’re an ocean apart at times, we can always count on one another for support, love, and laughter.

What’s the strangest talent you have?

I sing so badly that I can make you hate your favorite song.

What are three things still left on your bucket list?

Learn how to play the drums.

Travel to Namibia.

Attend a FIFA World Cup finale.
