We’re so proud of you Scott and all that you have achieved!
We can’t wait to see what this year brings!
I’m a UX designer, originally from BC, and have been living in Toronto for two years after a short stint in Halifax.
What is one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?
I spend way too much time on YouTube watching cooking videos and long-form skateboarding interviews.
How long have you been doing Powerlifting? At CF6S, with Hank’s Powerhouse?
I’ve been powerlifting with Hank’s Powerhouse for almost a year and a half. Before that, I did some strength training here and there but was never particularly serious or consistent with it.
Why did you start Powerlifting?
I’d always enjoyed doing the powerlifting lifts since I was introduced to them in university, but could never find the right combination of good programming, gym with good equipment, and workout buddies to get into a routine. Until I found Hank’s!
Lots of bands! To name a few: Alexisonfire, Thrice, Japandroids.
What is your proudest Powerlifting moment?
For me there is no singular moment; I’m most proud of how consistent I’ve been since joining Hank’s and the progress I’ve made as a result.
For someone just starting at CF6S/Hank’s, what advice would you give them?
Don’t be afraid to get to know your coaches and other people in the class!
Other than Powerlifting, what do you do for fun?
A lot of music: I play guitar and bass, sing, and go to as many concerts as I can. I’m also a big hockey fan and root heartily against the Leafs like most Canadians from outside the GTA.
What was the best advice you were ever given?
Trust the process, even if you don’t see the results you want immediately. In the long run, you’ll get better results that way than by worrying too much about short term results (useful advice both in and out of the gym!).
Flow, by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.
How do you explain Powerlifting to people who have never done it?
Powerlifting is all about trying to be as strong as you can be, as measured by how much you can lift in the squat, bench press, and deadlift.
Who would win a fight between Spiderman and Batman?
Batman.
At which store would you like to max-out your credit card?
Probably Long and McQuade, but there’s a lot of clothing and shoe stores I could spend a bunch of money at too…
Choose a movie title for the story of your life.
Silver Linings Playbook
What are three things still left on your bucket list?
Travel Europe, lift 1000lb total in the powerlifting lifts, break 80 in a round of golf.
If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?
Super speed!
