โGrowing up I was never very athletic. I could be best described as sleepy! Sports was never my thing. I was a typical bookworm and wanted nothing to do with any physical activity. During my teens I dabbled in some sports at the insistence of my parents, but it never stuck; soccer, basketball, tennis, swimming, you name it, i tried them all AND I gained quite a bit of weight along the way. Once I got into university, the weight kept piling on but with classes, assignments and exams, my health and fitness took a back seat. Then in 2003 I had an epiphany.ย
I realized that the weight wasnโt going to magically disappear and that I had to take control of my health and my well-being. So, I joined a gym. And I worked hard. I hired a personal trainer, did cardio 3 times a week and dialed in my eating habits. 8 months later, I had lost almost 40 lbs and had slimmed down considerably. I saw results and realized the benefits of being active and leading a healthy lift. The gym became a part of my life and it instilled a new level of discipline in me. Actually, it was more the realization that taking care of myself was paramount.ย
So, for 10+ years I went to the gym regularly, ate reasonably healthy, and thought I was set. Then, just over two years ago, I hurt my lower back doing deadlifts. In hindsight, I wasnโt lifting heavy, but I wasnโt lifting correctly. I was in a lot of pain and it look a couple of months for the injury and the pain to go away. I mean, I was actually concerned I wouldnโt be able to sit through a car ride from Toronto to Montreal!
Just as winter was making its exit, I discovered a tiny little CrossFit gym. Frankly, all I heard about CrossFit was that it was really intense and people always got injured. I was intimidated by it and I didnโt think I had the skill or the ability. And boy was I wrong! After that initial trial class, I was hooked. I loved the rush of adrenaline and the overall amazing feeling I got from that first class. Soon after joining, the PRs starting coming and let me tell you, those are a great way of motivating you. I recognized the value of testing and measuring your fitness like a scientific experiment; it gives you empirical and objective evidence whether your workout regime is working for you and whether youโre reaching your goals.ย
CrossFit motivates me every single day. I love the sense of accomplishment, the continuous improvement, and the feeling of community every single time I am at the gym. CrossFit is for everyone! It gives you a chance to try something new, push yourself in ways you never thought possible, and have fun while doing it! I have become more confident, more empathetic, and more personable as result. I see the results in every facet of my life. In fact, I can now work CrossFit into any conversation!
Within a year of starting CrossFit, I knew I wanted to coach and make an impact on people. This a new found passion for me and I canโt wait to be that friendly face that welcomes you when you come to your first (or not first!) class.

Besides CrossFit, I love to cook. I can take any recipe and adjust it to fit my macros and meal plan. Ask me about my banana bread and risotto recipe! I also love to travel and have been to CrossFit gyms all over the world; Amsterdam, Tel Aviv, and Paris are just a few that come to mind.

Iโm beyond thrilled to be coaching at CrossFit 6S. And if you know me you know I will be changing up those playlists during the Metcons!
