Athlete of the Month: Zohair Khan

Zohair joined 6S in 2022 and has been inspiring us ever since with enthusiasm, dedication, and positivity.

Through consistency and hard work, Zohair has discovered newfound abilities and checked off some amazing achievements.

Jumping into the Underground Throwdown for the first time, Zohair helped energize his team to an amazing second place!

We are so glad to have Zohair part of the 6S fam, and can’t wait to see what challenges he tackles next.

Tell us about yourself.

I’m your everyday Toronto gay in his 30s. I grew up in the burbs and I moved to the city the second I turned 18, and I’ve been here ever since.

What is one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?

My partner’s a chef so I’ve been slowly turning into a bit of a foodie. I love trying new restaurants and getting adventurous with food. From bugs to brains, I’ll try anything.

How long have you been doing Functional Fitness? At 6S?

I started Crossfit in 2018 then took time off during the pandemic. I started at 6S in 2022 and I’ve been here since!

Why did you start Functional Fitness?

I was never an athlete growing up, and I didn’t do a great job of pushing myself on my own. I love that the workouts at 6S challenge me and push me beyond what I think I’m capable of. There’s no better feeling than successfully completing a workout!

What is your favorite music to workout to?

Usually female rappers lol. I try to channel that ‘bad bitch’ energy.

What is your proudest 6S moment?

My team came in second at the last open! (my first!)

What impact has 6S had on your life inside and outside the gym?

There’s actually a lot of strategy that goes into how we approach workouts. You can totally apply that strategic approach to situations IRL.

For someone just starting at 6S, what advice would you give them?

Moving properly is really important. Push through your first month and don’t ego lift.

What’s your biggest health & fitness goal right now? How close are you?

Still trying to get muscle up! I’m sure I could do one by now, but not a bunch in a row. Also, I’ve been working with Alysha to reduce my body fat percentage over the summer so I could see my abs for the first time, and we actually achieved our goal!

Other than 6S, what do you do for fun?

I’m not really a hobbyist. I enjoy working out, and I love to travel. I think I’ve been on a plane every month so far this year.

What was the best advice you were ever given?

Be someone people want to be around!

What are three things still left on your bucket list?

Touch a hippo, successfully swim in the ocean (i can’t swim lol), spend a year living in the city my parents grew up in in India.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

London. I love the food, the people, and the culture.
