Meet Coach Indrit

Hi 6S Community!

My name is Indrit and I am really excited to be one of the new coaches at 6S! I have been a member for over 5 years now so it goes without saying that this community means a lot to me. Fitness has always been and continues to be a really important part of my life. I am happy to have completed my CrossFit Level 1 training and the 6S Coaching Internship Program and so, it’s a thrill to join the team of amazing coaches and contribute to the already incredible energy 6S Fitness is known for. You might know some stuff about me already, maybe we’ve been in the same classes, or maybe you’ve heard some of my (sometimes terrible) jokes, or maybe we’ve exchanged fistbumps and giphs on Sugar WOD. Either way, here are some other things about me that you might not know.

I work as a stage performer and theatre producer currently but I’m originally a trained dancer in ballet, jazz and Albanian folk dancing. I started with dance at an early age and so I have a really strong relationship to my body. One that continues to shift and morph as I grow older. I am no longer dancing professionally BUT you can still expect me to bust a move during your workouts or jump into an air pirouette when you hit a PR! My background in dance means that I’m also a stickler when it comes to proper form. Form is extremely important to me because only with proper form one can grow and become an even more efficient athlete.

My family and I moved here about 22 years ago from Albania. So yes I will be playing a lot of Dua Lipa, Rita Ora and Bebe Rexa in class because they are all Albanian and the pride of my people! English is my third language, I speak Albanian and Italian as well. I have travelled a lot (over 20 countries) and love learning about other cultures and other languages so don’t be surprised if I suddenly start counting your reps in other languages. Because I will count your reps!

I meditate a lot. I have some anxiety that I live with. At times, my anxiety has flared up to panic mode. But this is why meditation and living a balanced and healthy life is very important to me. In fact it is the way I approach fitness as well. For me, working out is another form of meditation. When you’re in the middle of that 30 minute conditioning workout and you are on round 5 of 50 calories on the bike (THE BIKE!) and your body and mind have no energy to do anything else BUT to breathe! Those deep breaths cleanse our minds from unnecessary information that we carry and help us reconnect with our bodies!  Let me know if you want to talk more about my meditation practice.

Lastly, you might know how competitive I can be. But I also think fitness should be fun! Working out is not a chore, it is communal experience where we work every day to be better versions of ourselves. And sometimes we succeed (we hit PRs) and others we fail (we have to stop halfway through the workout because our back might be hurting). But that’s ok. What matters is that we keep going, that we keep trying. And in my classes we will do all of this; focus on proper form, push ourselves to go a bit faster, or lift a bit heavier and we will do it all while also having the best time!

I can’t wait to see you in class!
