Athlete of the Month: Daniela Jimenez

Congratulations to our Athlete of the Month, Daniela! Daniela has been working hard with Alysha and continues to inspire us all with her dedication and hard work!

“Daniela started training with me during the pandemic with the goals of learning how to use weights in her training to become more well rounded from a fitness perspective. Over time her goals shifted to being the strongest version of herself. Daniela has overcome many obstacles from health to changing jobs and travelling but has kept consistent along her journey. Whenever she’s unable to come in person, she continues to train virtually via zoom to stay on track. Daniela has set her record any training endeavours on learning to do a handstand and squatting her bodyweight!”.

Keep up the amazing work Daniela, we are so excited to see what you accomplish next!

Tell us about yourself.

I am originally from Colombia and have lived in Canada for 20 years in Montreal, Kingston, Halifax and Toronto.

What is one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?

When I lived in Halifax I was part of a band and played the violin.

How long have you been doing Personal Training? At 6S?

April 2021.

Why did you start Personal Training/Functional Fitness training?

I started training because I wanted to be healthier and get stronger. Working with Alysha has been great because she is able to give me tips about nutrition and she is a great coach!

I was also intimidated by lifting weights during the group classes and wanted to learn how to do the movements in a 1-1 setting.

What is your proudest 6S moment?

I don’t have one specific moment but I’m proud that I’ve been consistent throughout the past year and my shoulders are looking good 😉

What impact has 6S had on your life inside and outside the gym?

I think I’m slowly becoming more confident about what my body can do.

What’s your biggest health & fitness goal right now? How close are you?

I’d like to get stronger and lose some body fat. I’m still working everyday on being consistent, eating healthy and drinking all the water Alysha recommends 😉

Other than 6S, what do you do for fun?

I love to travel, hike, eat great food, watch political shows.

What was the best advice you were ever given?

To accept a job in Italy.

What book are you reading right now?

21 things you may not know about the Indian Act

By Bob Joseph

At which store would you like to max-out your credit card?

I wouldn’t max-out my credit card at a store. I rather spend money traveling and eating at great restaurants.

What’s the strangest talent you have?

Sometimes when I wake up in the middle of a nice dream, I can fall back asleep and go back into the same dream.

What are three things still left on your bucket list?

  1. To see the northern lights

2. Have sushi in Japan

3. Go to the Amazonas and sleep in a tree house

If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?

The ability to pause time so I can sleep in.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Live in Castelnaudary so I can eat Cassoulet whenever I want 🙂
