August is all about the STIMULUS. We are going to work with each member to focus on hitting the intended stimulus for the workout, adjusting load and movements accordingly. Some of you already got a taste of this with a spin on โFranโ (toes to bar and thrusters) and then our traditional “Fran” (pull-ups and thrusters).
You can expect more sprint pieces because we want you to start to learn how to achieve intended stimuli and how different stimuli affect performance, recovery, and body composition. We will encourage members to monitor heart rate and perceived exertion and use these as markers, rather than solely focusing on workout scores.
For our strength work, we are wrapping up our front squat and push press cycle with a 1RM test mid-month. We will move to focus on deadlift percentages (so track your results in sugar WOD!), cleans, and chest and triceps, among others.
For metcons, expect interval pieces, classic benchmark workouts and a whole lot of fun (maybe some bike sprints too).
